Getting it all into 'IN'
In a previous post I wrote about David Allen's book 'Getting Things Done'. I've started to implement the principles he teaches in the book. Here are thirteen things about how I'm doing.
- I'm totally overwhelmed. When I get this way I tend to shutdown. There's so much to do I can't do anything. That's mainly how I got into this situation in the first place!
- I'm very glad we organized the den/office last November. We threw out bags and bags of stuff. If we hadn't that would all be in my inbox! Yikes!!
- I keep coming up with more STUFF!
- STUFF in my ACT slot.
- STUFF in my READ slot.
- STUFF in my FILE slot.
- STUFF in my desk drawers.
- Projects in my sewing studio.
- Projects related to fixing up MWH(Most Wonderful Husband)'s home office. Since he works 90% or more of the time from home I'd like it to be nicer. I purchased a desk and credenza from Michigan State University surplus store. I've started the work to fix it up, but it's not done yet. Into the inbox!
- Projects related to un-burying the house. Too much STUFF everywhere! We're working on it, but I am ready to get a lot of the STUFF out of the house!
- Projects in the garage!
- Projects in the yard!
- ARGH!!! But there's a light at the end of the tunnel. The next step is processing and organizing. That one should give me some relief.
I'm still not sure everything has made it into 'IN', but things will be added as they come up. I know this is a good thing. I always get this way at the beginning of an organizing project. But once I push past it, things move along pretty well.
On to processing and organizing!!!

Hi Clara...thanks for visiting with me today. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed "Jefé" and her humor.
We do that too...get so much STUFF then downsize, the sad part is, we start all over again. I just had to rearranged the dining room hutch for things I moved from another room. It's a never ending job.
I'm just like you. Things get overwhelming and then I can't do anything!!!
Last month, I went room by room and threw out everything. Like you said, there was just stuff everywhere and even when I tried to organize it, it grew into more stuff.
Life is sooo much better without all the stuff. You'd be surprised at how many things you really dont need.
Happy TT

O, I can sooo relate to this... I 'm not very good in throwing things away, so the place fills up faster than it's cleaned... Good luck!
Thanks for visiting my TT.
I have so much on my "to do" list, but I am too lazy to get started on it. Just kidding!
I know exactly how you feel.
I've been there...two moves in 6 mos forced us to get rid of a lot of stuff and, while, I didn't enjoy the moves per se, it was wonderful getting rid of the stuff.
Now...to keep ourselves clutter-free :)
Good luck with all of that. Happy TT.
least you got something done! i've been talking about decluttering all year, and have failed to do much. we did get the garage sorted and were able to bring my son the last of his stuff when we went to vegas. if you could see our office area, you'd cringe at my side of the room LOL
Sounds like a great book, maybe I should read it!
You know I do the same thing I shut down when I get in to deep. Just keep plugging along it will get done. Happy TT a little late.
